Research direction: modern ceramic art, ceramic art in environment
Jiang Yan, PhD, Member of International Academy of Ceramics, Member of China Artists Association. She started her teaching career at Nanjing University of the Arts since 2000. Visiting artist at School of Art ANU (2003) and Danmark Guldagergaard International Ceramic Research Center (2004,2007), visiting scholar at School of Art Kassel University(2011). Started to teach at the School of Architecture, Southeast University from May, 2024.
She has published more than 20 articles, and 2 books. She set up her own design brand Yanze Ceramics in 2013, and owned 16 design patents. Her works have been selected for many important national and international exhibitions, won several awards, such as the First Prize in the first BLANC DE CHINE International Ceramic Art Competition, and the Premier Award in the 2004 Sydney Myer Fund International Ceramics Award. Some of her works were collected by the V&A Museum, the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery (Stoke-on-trent), Ariana Museum, the Yingge Ceramic Museum and the Korea Icheon World Ceramic Center, etc.
In 2012, she was selected into the Nanjing 321 Talent Development Plan, and the project Integration of Pure Art and Design was selected as an excellent case of industry-university-research cooperation in Chinese universities (2016). In the past ten years, her undergraduate and graduate students have won more than 20 national and international awards in ceramic art competitions and design exhibitions.
